cottage cheese breakfast bowls
If you’re a smoothie person (like me) but also really love toppings and eating things with a spoon, you have to try these 2-ingredient cottage cheese breakfast bowls.
All you do is blend together cottage cheese with any kind of frozen fruit (raspberries, blueberries, mango, strawberry-banana, etc.) then transfer to a bowl and add whatever toppings you like. I love that no two bowls are the same!
the creamiest cottage cheese breakfast bowls
The goal for this mixture is to get it super thick and creamy (think acai bowl) — which means you need the right tool for the job. I prefer my Cuisinart 4-cup chopper/grinder, which is just the right size for a single-serve portion while still being extremely powerful. This is also what I use for blending up small batches of cottage cheese, and making my green goddess ranch.
can I use a Nutribullet?
If you don’t have a mini food processor, you can also use a personal blender like a Nutribullet. These appliances often require adding a splash of milk (or juice, or coconut water) to keep the ingredients moving, so add just a little bit at a time so the mixture stays thick and spoonable.

cottage cheese breakfast bowls
serves 1
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen fruit (mixed berries, mango, strawberry-banana, etc.)
- 1/2 cup 2% or whole milk cottage cheese (I always use Good Culture)
- splash of milk, juice, or coconut water, if needed
- any combo of fresh fruit, granola, nut butter, honey, chia seeds, hemp seeds, etc., for topping
Instructions
- Combine the frozen fruit and the cottage cheese in a mini food processor or powerful blender.
- Blend/process until smooth, scraping down the bottom and sides as needed. It will look too dry at first but will eventually come together. You can always add a splash of liquid to help it along if needed.
- Transfer to a bowl and sprinkle with desired toppings. Enjoy immediately!
